The poem problema ni nonoy was written by Luis Cabalquinto whose famous not just in

writing bicol poems but also he writes poem in English and tagalog. the poem tickled views

about delicate quadrille of flirtation, intrigues, sexuality preferences and society manner of

today's age. The poem is somehow related to the piece of pride and prejudice by Jane Austen.

Comparing the same romantic clash between the opinionated woman and her beauty, which

make a splendid performance of civilized sparring, However. The poem seems become erotically

comedic and full of society comparison between manners of opinionated conservatives between

flirtatious ladies of today, and the lack of beneficial security of the characters leads to problem of

sexual infidelity and degradation. The poem ang problema ni nonoy was focused on how the

society view women. This poem reveals the portrayal of traditional gender role in the society, in

the first line of the poem where it talks about a woman distinction and the women is complaining

about the sadden change of behavior of her man the women notice some changes in his affection

and she thinks that all of those changes of her lover was because of how the other woman on the

society dress it’s kind of revealing on her own perception and seducing at the same time, that she

was afraid that because of that she will lose her lover so, she comes with the idea of getting

married earlier than what she planned it also portrays the relationship between woman and man.

portrays the relationship between woman and man characters. In this poem I used the feminism

approach, that describe vivacious heroine of women, however it is negatively describe but in

behalf of femininity.it symbolized how powerful women positively or negatively upon reading

the poem and digging deeper of its message I used feminism criticism approach because it talks

about the organized activity on behalf of women interest and feelings because traditionally

gender role is one issue of feminist literary criticism. Feminist literary criticism is rooted from

the understanding of women inferiority while its key term is the equivalent of right between men

and women Further, describes traditional gender role division between man and woman that

place “man as rational, strong, protective and decisive women as emotional (irrational), weak,

nurturing, and submissive. In this poem problema ni nonoy portrays how the society viewed

woman sexually and physically.
