Memoir
I did not have any particular topic in mind until I sat down and thought about everything I
have been through since the day I started understanding what goes on in the world until now. I
could have talked about something simple, such as my first basketball game or my first dance,
but those were too basic for me, and I did not have a lot of background behind them. So, I chose
my first tattoo for my topic. The process of telling about how and when I got my first tattoo was
not hard for me because I remember like it was yesterday, but just explaining how I got it and
what made me get it took a lot of effort. The tattoo was a basic tattoo that said “blessed” covered
around with red roses. But I did not see it that way because I saw it as a word that described my
character, personality, and mentality. Basically, me as a person. This assignment not only gave
me the freedom to tell a story that many did not know about because I never really told anyone,
but it also showed me that I am progressing as a better writer and still have a long way to go. I
know great writers or even good ones do not just happen overnight, but it’s something that
people put hard work and time into every day. They want to be remembered by people that are a
fan of their work, and I feel like one day I will be remembered not only for being a student
athlete or basketball player, but a young man who has confidence and skills to express his
thoughts and feelings on paper so people can feel the passion I have for writing and the potential
