indigenous people of Canada.”

Tossing the ball game

Split the class into 2 groups. Have both groups form their own circles. In these circles, each group will
get one bouncy ball (4 square ball). The point of the game is to try to keep the ball in the air as a team.
They can do this by hitting the ball in any ay they would like to.

Body

Shinny
Students will essentially be playing floor hockey. Divide the class into 4 equal teams. Designate each
team with a colored pinnie. Once you have sorted the students into 4 teams, pick 2 teams to play first.
The other 2 teams will sit on the bench until it is their turn to play. Once the first 2 teams have played
then the other 2 teams that sat on the bench will play. If time allows play another 2 games where the
teams that haven’t versed each other will play. Games will be 3-5 minutes long. Have a hockey net on
either side of the gym. Inform the students that no part of the body can touch the ball in this game.

Before each game tell the players that hockey sticks should not go any higher than their waist and
that there should be no pushing or shoving during the game. Retell the students that no part of the
body can touch the ball.

First Game: Team 1 VS Team 2

Second Game: Team 3 VS Team 4

Third Game: Team 1 VS Team 3

Forth Game: Team 2 VS Team 4

At 1:45pm have the students clean up the gym. Students should be putting pinnies back into the
pinnie bin, and hockey sticks and nets should be put away. Once that is finished, have the students sit
down on the black line in front of the gym door and discuss what the students learned today.
