Release Management ExcalVer

Product Release Version Naming Convention

As part of Release Managements continuous improvement initiative, we are standardizing the
versioning of Excalibur products. We are using a combination of the CalVer and the Semantic
Versioning standards to create the Excalibur Versioning Convention or ExcalVer for short.
This versioning convention has necessary information built into it so you can quickly identify the
calendar year the product was released, followed by the release number and patch number.
The Format : - -> YY.RELEASE-NUMBER.HOT-FIX-NUMBER
YY Two digits representing the current year
RELEASE-NUMBER Starts with a value of 1 for each new calendar year and increments by 1 for
each new release
HOT-FIX-NUMBER Starts with a value of 0 and increments by 1 for each hot fix release for the
major release being patched
Please reference the following examples:
u 20.1.0 = First release of 2020 with no Hot Fix
u 20.2.0 = Second release of 2020 with no Hot Fix
u 20.2.1 = First Hot Fix for release 20.2.0
u 20.3.0 = Third release of 2020 with no Hot Fix
