ISSUES IN COMP. FORENSICS (ITNB4354)
FORUM 1

Discuss any issues in Preserving Digital Evidence and Forensic Investigation.

1. Technological Obsolescence
 It is a security threat and the reason are management’s drawback in planning and
unsuccessful to foresee the technological advancements in the business.
 Technological obsolescence is experienced when the infrastructure becomes old
and outdated. Which leads to untrustworthy and unreliable systems, which may
further lead to the loss data from the cyber attack.
2. Storage Media Fragility
 Practically every form of data storage has the potential to be corrupted. Stray
particles can interfere with most forms of data storage, and anything relying on
magnetic strips or electric storage can be corrupted by electromagnetic
interference.
 Even if there isn’t an outside source directly interfering with it, data can naturally
degrade over time. Your best bet for protection here is utilizing multiple backups.
3. Authenticity of electronic records
 To ensure the authenticity or records, organizations should implement and
document policies and procedures which control the creation, receipt, transmission,
maintenance and disposition of records to ensure that records creators are
authorized and identified and that records are protected against unauthorized
addition, deletion, alteration, use and concealment.
4. The manipulability of electronic systems
 This can challenge the capacity of guaranteeing the long-term preservation.
