Warm-up activity: strategies/activities for teaching 21st-century

skills

 They select a storybook (fiction) - for either preschool – to be used for a literacy
lesson
- Five little ducks.

 They select (or are given) three 21st century skills to be integrated into the literacy
lesson
- Critical Thinking
- Creativity
- Collaboration
- Communication

 They come up with strategies/activities that will help develop the targeted 21 st-
century skills
- Give students card word then they will match it with letter. Words (ducks, day,
waddling, tills, far away)
- Give students a paper to draw the duck in and ask them to create their own
duck by using different materials.

 how these skills will be developed via the use of a storybook: T & L strategies +
activities
- Critical Thinking: when the students ask questions about the story.
- Creativity: when the students create their own duck.
- Collaboration: when the students try to solve the cards.
- Communication: when the students work together in activity two.

 This activity will improve their vocabulary and review the letters.
