FINAL EXAMINATION

Questions:

1. As Field Engineer, how would you organize the construction activities of the Civil &
Structural Work in sequential order?
2 With the organized construction activities, how would you prepare the necessary cost
requirement for labor, materials and equipment? Give an example of computing the unit
cost of labor, material and equipment for RSB Work = cost/kg.; Formwork = cost/sqm.;
Concrete = cost/cum. (Labor rate Ph 62.5/mhr; RSB = 50/kg.; Form = 800/sqm.; Concrete =
5000/cum.
Work Items Quantities Work Parameter LCost MCost ECost
<>RSB Work 6000 Kgs. 5 Kgs./mhr ? ? ?
<>Formwork 3000 Sqm. 1.2 Sqm/mhr ? ? ?
<>Concretework 500 Cum. 0.6 cum/mhr ? ? ?

3. If the Project Manager will require you to establish a work parameter for RSB fabrications
work with the given 3 rebarman and 50 pcs. 16mm x 9 m. RSB to complete the 150 pcs.
footing bars in 6 calendar days, how would you compute the work parameter? The RSB
bending dimensions are: a = 0.5 m; b = 2.0 m.; c = 0.5 m.
4. Since estimating is part of the initiation process, how would you estimate the necessary
manpower or time duration for RSB work, Formwork and Concrete-work when there is no
given work parameters for the 3 work items.
5. How would you initiate planning and scheduling of construction activities? Give an example
of RSB work, Formwork and concrete work schedule for column-footing and footing
tie-beam with corresponding quantities per day or per week.
Column-Footing Footing Tie-beam
Work Items Quantities Work Parameter Quantities Work Parameter
<>RSB Work 3000 Kgs. 5 Kgs./mhr 2500 Kgs. 5 Kgs./mhr
<>Formwork 1000 Sqm. 1.2 Sqm/mhr 850 Sqm. 1.2 Sqm/mhr
<>Concretework 500 Cum. 0.6 cum/mhr 350 Cum. 0.6 cum/mhr

6. How would you prepare the 1st Week Schedule for the column-footing with the
given quantities and work parameters. Indicate the daily production target (in qty.)
and corresponding budget man-hour and manpower.

7. How would you execute the RSB work and finish the 6000 kgs. in a week time with
no given manpower and budget man-hour? How would you produce the manpower
if the previous weekly actual accomplishment and actual man-hour report was
considered which is 2800 kgs. and 570 man-hours respectively.
8. How would you evaluate and determine the time duration of construction activities
against the work production? For example the planned quantity is 2800 kilograms
and the actual is 2880 kilograms with an actual man-hour of 680 man-hours.
9. If the construction activity is overrunning in quantity by 20% of the planned
accomplishment of 5600 kilograms what is the equivalent number of day on work
slippage.
10. Prepare a weekly cash flow requirement for the structural work whose weekly
accomplishment is 20% for the 1st week and additional of 5% for the 2nd to 4th week
and 30% for the 5th and 6th; and, 15% for the last 2 weeks. The project cost is
estimated 25% above the total cash requirement which is 18,500,000.
11. How would you prepare a monthly accomplishment plan base from the given data?
Indicate the corresponding monthly work accomplishment in percentage.
Contract Cost Wt.% Start Finish Duration
1. Civil Work 5,000,000 11.63% Day-1 Day-30 30 days
2. Structural Work 20,000,000 46.51% Day-10 Day 180 171 days
3. Architectural Work 18,000,000 41.86% Day 30 Day 210 181 days

12. Explain how would you monitor and control cost with respect to your job
assignment? Give an example.
13. Explain how would you evaluate your work activities base on time and work
production? Give an example.
14. Applying the EVA, compute the estimated cost at completion (ECC) and estimated
time at completion (ETC) with the given data:
Total RSB Work = 50000 kilograms
Estimated cost of RSB work = Ph 3,535,000
Planned duration = 45 calendar days
Budgeted cost per day = 3,535,000/45 = Ph 78,556
Planned work = 50000/45 = 1,111 kilograms per day
Budgeted cost per kg. = 3,535,000/50000 = Ph 70.70 per kilogram
Actual cost after 15th day = Ph 1,500,000 (ACWP)

15. You are required by your Project Manager to prepare a Catch-Up Schedule for the
second month base from the weekly accomplishment report as shown below.
Compute the work accomplishment in order to catch-up at the second month.
