Week 1 : Colours

SCIENCE
LESSON 1
ACTIVITY 1
Students observe the objects in the picture and say the colours out aloud.
(Teachers are advised to put the pictures in Power Points.)

ACTIVITY 2
1. Students provided a paper plate and corn starch and water mixture on the plate.
2. The students were given 30 seconds to play with the corn starch. The mixture will
become solid when you squeeze it or push it around on the tray, and it will transform
back into an oozing liquid when you release it.
3. Teacher, drizzles a few drops of food colours on the mixture and students let to mix and
play with the mixture.
4. Teacher asks questions about the colour and texture of the mixture.
5. Teacher is advised to use different colours in different groups.
6. After every 1 or 2 minutes, students are allowed to move to next group to play with
different coloured mixture.
7. With teacher’s guidance students can experiment mixing two colours to make a new
colour.
8. Students are given time to wash their hands.

MATERIAL NEEDED: CORN FLOUR, WATER, PAPER PLATE, 3-5 DIFFERENT FOOD COLOURINGS
