1. Have you seen the latest Harry Potter film?


2. Did you see Brazil playing Germany last night? It was amazing.
3. When I lived in Japan, I ate a lot of raw fish.
4. I’ve got stomachache I’ve eaten too much!
5. Mike brought his new girlfriend to dinner last night. She’s really nice.
6. Mike’s brought you a present. It’s on the table.
7. My parents have invited us for lunch tomorrow. Do you want to go?
8. Yes, we have to! Last time they invited us we forgot to go.
9. I have never read ‘War and Peace’. It’s too long and I don’t have time.
10. I never read much when I was a child. It’s a shame.

1. The world’s biggest company is Citigroup. In 2007 its assets were more than $255
billion.
2. Meanwhile, the largest company in Asia is China Mobile. It’s assets are $127 billion.
3. And the richest American is still Bill Gates. He has $53 billion and is richer than Warren
Buffet who has just $46 billion.
4. In 2007 the TV star Oprah Winfrey the highest income in TV and films. She earned
$260 million.
5. What about houses? The most expensive house in the world is Updown Court in
England. It cost £75 million and has 103 rooms and five swimming pools!
6. Updown Court cost more than the world’s most expensive private island, Isla de sa
Ferradura in Spain, which was $39,7 million.
7. If you need to save money, the worst place to eat out is Aragawa restaurant in Japan,
where a steak and a drink costs $277.
8. And countries? For the first time in 2006, the European Union much richer than the
United States. Both are much very richer than the poorest countries, such as Malawi and
Burundi. In the US each person makes $40,000 per year; in Malawi it is just $700.
9. You can start poor and become rich. Steve jobs is one of the most successfull men in
America, but he started Apple in a garage.
10. But the more you earn, the more you pay in taxes. Norway has the highest taxes in the
world. Many people pay more than 100% of their income in tax.
