Drama Essay Reflection

This was probably my favorite essay to write this semester. Ironically it also the worst

grade I have gotten so far in an essay. It’s not often that we get to discuss topics such as binaries

in a formal class that’s not about gender studies. As much as we think we are educated in queer

theory, there is always something we can learn. It would be nice if older generations looked more

into queer theory, so that way they too can understand more about the community. I feel like

education is everything is key to better understand others.

When revising my in-class essay, I had a lot of standard grammar mistakes. I had a comma

splices here and there around the essay. There were also a few confusing sentences that had no

purpose in the essay. I was putting fluffier sentences without realizing it. There were definitely a

handful of misspelled words that we are able to go undetected by the spell-check. My flow was

good for the most part, but the few flow flaws were an easy fix. There were also some

underdeveloped paragraphs. My thesis again wasn’t as clear as it could. There was also a need

for a graber, it lead me to put a personal narration in the essay. I didn’t want to do it right in the

beginning but after the intro. That personal touch I think helped bring a more personal touch to

the essay without making it a narrative. Thanks to the writing center I was able to catch the

errors that I missed.
