Grading Policy Karis Lin

My Grading Policy

I believe that my future formative assessments will be carefully designed with

validity and reliability so that students can prepare themselves well and demonstrate

their knowledge without getting points off for being confused or shocked with a

completely unfamiliar type of problem from the ones they have spent time practicing

over in class. The summative assessment especially will have different level of

problems that can show where each student’s understanding lays. I will try to make all

assessments fair and easy to pass so that students who try hard but couldn’t reach to

the higher level of understanding before the test won’t be too discouraged, and students

who want challenges will have to work hard to get 100.

In my classroom, students will be graded based on their efforts. If students do

their work and learn they will get credit. Otherwise all work that isn’t made up will be

graded as zero towards the end of the class. I want all my students to be encouraged to

try and learn the materials in this class until the last day of each class.

Modifications/accommodations:

Students with special learning needs can take quizzes and tests in a separate

classroom setting and/or with extended time. If students need special accommodation, I

can try to modify the assignments for them based on their needs.
