M 11

Submitted by: JENALYN R. JUMAQUIO Submitted to: PROF. L. MACAPACAL

Let me give you my insight and learnings I gained for this subject, Humanities 2: World Culture. As
semester ended, a lot of topic were discussed. At first, Ma’am Macapagal tackled the overview, content and the
definition of the subject itself. When we heard “Culture” different perspective will come to our mind provided
the evident reflection of each and everyone.
As human we grow by nurturing of what surround us. The kind of living that every individual acquire
mirrored his/her action in the society. With this we can conclude the different beliefs, manners, traditions, and
values that each of us characterized. Moreover, the organization we’re belong has its own laws, institutions, and
also religions which mold us to who we are now. The distinction of every human in this world is based on the
adaptation and knowledge delivered from the environment we are living.
In order to understand what culture is, we studied the civilization of some country to be able to learn and
raise awareness in their culture. In Greece we discovered its real name, Hellenic Republic and consider as the
first country to be the world’s first democracy, where citizens has right to vote except foreigners, women and
slaves. Their amazing art that will be seen in their castles and buildings, the attractive statues and paintings are
known to be the image of their culture. Also their popular Gods known in the Olympus Guardians. In Rome we
learned that it was known as the capital of two states because this is the only existing example of a country within
a city. Like Greece, Rome is also known for its best work in art that would be seen in their great colosseums,
statues, and basilicas pertaining to the realistic image of their country. Studying Egypt gave me knowledge not
just in their great pyramids, about the leadership of Pharaohs’, the life of slaves, their significance of
mummification but also their beautiful attraction and astonishing deserts. Discovering Puerto Rico was surprising
because of its unique lively music. Learning more about China amazed me of how they are powerful. I also
became aware in the French Revolution and the kind of leadership in France. In India, I learned their different
religions and life lessons from Buddha, other gods, and philosophers. The different celebration of feast days in
Mexico were very captivating. Moreover, studying United Kingdom fascinate me how glamour this country had.
Being aware in Japan gave more knowledge regarding to their rich technologies. However, in the discussion about
South Korea and North Korea I learned that separating this two country and having boundaries were so hard.
Because the other one is rich with sweet and charming people but the other has given more importance to strength
of its military.
I conclude in this semester that no matter what your culture is, your beliefs, your language or even your
complexion the important is we give respect to each other and understand the differences of each of us.
