Read the task sheet question 4-6 with students.

Go through the key words included in the assignment. What does


‘describe’, ‘Impression’ ‘Material’ ‘meaning’ mean.

Check their answers with a partner
Then using a random name generator choose a student to share Think, pair, share
their answer with the class.
Use prompts when necessary and elaborate on student answers

Show students the artwork by Courtney Mattison on projector.


Draw a student’s name out of a hat and ask them to choose an
artwork that we will analyse as a class.

Go through question 4 and asked students to describe the artwork but


think to themselves and then to a partner. Give prompts where possible
but draw students names out of a hat for accountability to share with
the class.
Make clear that no negative comments are allowed this lesson. so
students can feel safe to share their opinions without mean comments
from others.

Write down answers on the whiteboard

Go through question 6 and asked students what they think the


meaning behind the artwork is.
Think Pair share- go around the room and ask students to be ready Think, pair, share
with an answer.

12:40 Next students were to have another go answering the questions in the
assignment on their task sheet.

Other Extension task: Students who finish early can either finish off
any other artwork or illustrate their own story using shapes of
Mattison’s work on a piece of A3 paper.

1:10 Lesson Closure:

Remind students to pack up before end of class and put away


laptops and name on their work.
