 What stuck me about the language used by
teenager?

Honestly, I expect slang talk when it comes to teenager's

language. However, teenagers that I am around most of the
time do not use most of the slang heard outside.
My expectations were not shocking. I expect teenagers to
use slang.

 Why do Teenagers have their own set of

vocabulary?
They tend to spend more time with friends and less time with
parents(usa.gove) thus creating a very low vocab list. In order to feel
excepted by peers they have a language that they only can understand,
making them part of something “special”
What Comparisons/Connections can you make
to your own adolescent linguistic practices?

 I did notice some of the slang words used I also used as a teenager
such as: fam, bomb, and sick

 I wasn’t much into slang. I didn’t care too much about what my peers
thought as much of the teenagers do these days. There is however,
similarities in how we copy slang from others around us and use it
without the need of explanation or real meaning.
How do I connect the activity to my
readings?
 Slang has rapidly changing words and phrases (2016). Morphology is more
dialect in nature designed with vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation
(Hasa, 2016).
 Slang is informal and is restricted mainly to a certain group of people
(Hasa, 2016)
 Principles of morphology have a distinct purpose and is used to create an
educated language using correct semantics.
My Conclusions
Languages is always evolving into what fits our generation. I have noticed
that the more we learn how to properly use vocabulary the better educated
we will become in speech. Slang shows lack of an well educated mind.
Applying to Future Classroom

 I have learned that the more you make vocabulary a

necessity you will provide your children with the tools
they need to communicate effectively.
 I will teach my children that using semantics correctly can
be a “cool” thing too.
 I know that I need to be aware of the slang that will be
used in my classroom and will try to approach my students
in a way they will help them receive my instructions.
