The purpose of the project for my U.S. History class called “History of Poverty

& Homelessness” was to become aware and more understanding of poverty and

homelessness. When I was first assigned the project, I already knew the era I

wanted to cover because before we began, we went over key points in the eras we

could choose, and a fact from the 1820s caught my attention. My initial goal was to

find the most interesting facts and educate myself on what the homeless went

through in these times.

The first decision that was to be made was the era we would research. So my

partner and I came to a conclusion that we would choose 1820-1880 since they

caught our attention the most. Then we decided to split the project and each of us

would find 3 facts since we needed 6 in total. After finding our facts we put them into

our powerpoint and added pictures and transitions. Our final step was to do the voice

overs so that we could present.

I actually learned a lot of interesting facts from doing this assignment, more

specifically i learned that there were specific laws put in place to prevent or get rid of

homeless people on the streets of cities. I learned about myself that I’m not doing

enough to help people in our society today, and i would really like to. I think i

excelled at finding fasinating facts to use. Although i think we could’ve improved in

our voice overs since when we presented mine didnt want to play.
