MySugr is designed to help people
with diabetes manage their condition.
The user enters details such as
capillary blood glucose levels, dose of
insulin, food intake, activities and
the times these occurred. The app
then creates daily and weekly profiles
of how the person is managing
their diabetes.
The app can show trends to help with
self-management. For example, if a
person is experiencing a hypoglycaemic
event every Tuesday afternoon, this
will be flagged up and once a week
they will receive an email giving them
a profile of their diabetes management.
This app does take some
commitment because users have to
input information numerous times
a day, but the more data entered,
the more accurate the profiles.
The user also has to be quite adept
at using smartphones, so it perhaps
might not be suitable for some older
people. Young people are also more
likely to play the game, in which
users can earn points fighting the
‘diabetes monster’.
For those with the motivation
to use it, this is a useful app for
diabetes management.
