LINCOLN’S REELECTION
On November 8th, 1864, for the
second time Lincoln won the presidential election, defeating Mc Clellan. On March 4th, 1865 entered its second consecutive presidential term. ASSASSINATION
Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd, went to attend a
performance at Ford's Theater. When Lincoln sat in the balcony, John Wilkes Booth, appeared from behind a single shot with a pistol to the head of the president. ASSASSINATION
Lincoln's body was carried by train in a grand
funeral procession through several states. Abraham Lincoln died on April 14th, 1865 in Washington D.C. Today his remains rest in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield (Illinois).
