LITERATURE REVIEW’S GUIDELINE

SCIENTIFIC PROJECT AND OLYMPIAD OF SRIWIJAYA 2019

The Literature Review Competition is an international competition in SPORA 2019


that is followed by young researchers all around the world, consisting of full article
submissions and oral presentations which gives the participants ample opportunity to
exchange their knowledge.
I. THEME AND SUBTHEME
The theme of the Literature Review Competition in SPORA 2019 is
“The Latest Updates in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Improving Maternal and Fetal
Health to Achieve the Third Goal of SDG’s”
The subtheme and title are free to decide as long as they are related to the theme.

II. PARTICIPANTS
1. Each team consists of 2–3 participants.
2. Participants are pre-clinical and/or undergraduate students of medical and health
science majors such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursery, Psychology, Pharmacy, Public
Health, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.
3. Participants may:
i. Join as a spectator in all competitions when they do not have scheduled time
(for presenting their research paper, seminar, or workshop) in SPORA 2019;
ii. Join the welcoming party, city tour, and farewell party; and
iii. Join the seminar and workshop.
4. Participants in the same team must be from the same university/institution but can be
from different faculty/majors.

III. COMPETITION ROUNDS AND TIMELINE


1. Preliminary Round
Submission of the full-article literature review (consisting of: abstract, introduction,
methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and references)
2. Final Round
10 finalists will present their article by oral presentation at Kampus Madang,
Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya. The top 3 highest scores will be the
winners of this literature review competition.
Registration and Submission : May 1st – July 21st, 2019
Announcement : August 12th, 2019
Finalist Registration : August 12th – August 24th, 2019
Final Round : September 13th, 2019
Awarding : September 14th, 2019

IV. GENERAL RULES


a. The submitted literature review should be original and has never been presented in
any previous competitions. Any kind of plagiarism is intolerable;
b. All teams may submit a maximum of two full articles, under the condition that
both articles are lead by different first authors;
c. All participants may join a maximum of two competitions, however each
participant is only allowed to be the first author of only one of the competitions
in SPORA 2019;
d. Teams that are qualified as finalists will be invited to Palembang to present their
literature review. Each team must send a minimum of 2 authors. The first author
must come and present their literature review;
e. The guidelines for the final round (the oral presentation) will be released at a later
date by the committees;
f. The judges’ decisions are absolute and cannot be protested.

V. REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINE


a. Each team is obligated to pay a registration fee of 10 USD or IDR 150.000,00 per
submission
b. Registration fee must be transferred to the treasurer of SPORA 2019 on behalf of
Raden Roro Mutiara with account number of 0213463672 (Bank Central Asia
(BCA))
c. All teams have to confirm the registration fee payment to the treasurer of SPORA
2019 by WhatsApp (WA) Messenger (+62) 81398499807 (Raden Roro Mutiara)
with the format:

d. All participants have to fulfill the participants’ requirements
e. All participants have to fill the online registration form at www.sporaunsri.com
f. After having registered, all teams have to submit:
 A scan or picture of their student card;
 A scan or picture of their identity card/passport;
 The photos of each participant (3 × 4 cm);
 The letter of originality (.pdf);
 The full article (.doc/.docx); and
 All of the participants’ Curriculum Vitae (.doc/.docx) (There is no specific rules
on writing the Curriculum Vitae).
The documents have to be collected in .zip file and sent to the SPORA 2019’s
Official website (www.sporaunsri.com) with a maximum total size of 5 MB and the
subject:

g. All teams have to confirm the article submission to the SPORA 2019 committee by

VII.WRITING FORMAT
a. Format and Structure
1. The manuscript must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
2. The manuscript must be written in English. Any non-English term should be
written in Italic writing style.
3. The manuscript should contain a comprehensive analysis of a specific topic.
4. The manuscript must not contain any special characters (ex. å, ã, æ, ç, ê).
5. The manuscript can only contain a maximum of 3000 words from abstract to
conclusion, references not included.
6. The manuscript has to be typed on A4 paper (210 mm × 297 mm), with a
customized margin (top: 3.5 cm, bottom: 2.5 cm, right: 2 cm, left: 2 cm), Times
New Roman font type, 12 pt font size, single spacing, and justified alignment.
7. Title and Author Section:
i. The title should be brief, clear, informative, and easy to understand.
ii. The title must not exceed 20 words.
iii. The title of the manuscript is typed in Sentence Case, Times New
Roman font type, 14 pt font size, bold writing style, single spacing,
and centered alignment.
iv. Identity of the authors should be written in Italic writing style under
the title and ended by a superscript. Information regarding the authors’
faculty and university must be put below the authors’ name, followed
by corresponding E-mail addresses.
8. Abstract Structure:
i. The abstract must be written in English.
ii. The length of the abstract should range from 250–300 words excluding the
title, name of authors, affiliations, and correspondences.
iii. The abstract must be typed within one paragraph, Times New Roman
font type, 10 pt font size, single spacing, and justified alignment.
iv. The abstract should not be divided into sections, such as Introduction,
Method, Result, and Conclusion.
v. Abstract should consist of 3 to 5 keywords in English. Keywords are
written alphabetically, in Italic writing style, and no repetition of the words
in the title.
9. Manuscript Structure:
i. The manuscript must contain the following sections: Introduction,
Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
ii. The first sentence of the paragraph is typed indented 5 mm from the left
margin.
iii. The introduction should contain the definition, background, and
importance of the problem, goals, and research contributions.
iv. It is not recommended to use subsections, however, the Introduction,
Discussion, and Conclusion may have subsection. The subsection should
be written with each word capitalized with Indo-Arabic numerals (1.1, 1.2,
…, etc).
v. Subsection are typed in Times New Roman font type, 12 pt font size,
single spacing, and in written in bold.
vi. Using footnotes is not recommended.
10. Tables and Figures:
i. The title of any tables should be put above the table with Times New
Roman font type, 10 pt font size, bold writing style, and single spacing as
in example provided at the template.
ii. The tables that use Indo-Arabic numerals have to be typed in Times New
Roman font type, 10 pt font size, and single spacing below the title.
iii. Figures should be put symmetrically in a column with single spacing from
the previous paragraph and given Indo-Arabic numerals.
iv. Any information regarding the figures are typed below the figures with
single spacing, Times New Roman font type, 10 pt font size, and written in
bold exactly like the example provided in the template.
11. The references must be written in Vancouver citation style exactly like the
example provided in the template.
