Part-A 5*2=10M

1. State KCL and KVL

2. Define RMS value of sinusoidal quantity.

3. Define Average value of sinusoidal quantity.

4. Find the current in the circuit.

1. Derive the expression for RMS value of alternating current wave for I=Im sinwt.

2. Compute the average value of square wave as shown in the figure.

3. Find inductive reactance, impedance and current in a series R-L circuit where R=50Ω

and L= 20mH connected across a 50Hz, 230V supply.

4. State Norton’s and Thevenins Theorem.

5. Three resistors: R1=5Ω, R2=15Ω, R3= 25Ω are connected in parallel across a DC

voltage source 100V. Find the currents I1, I2 and I3 through the resistors and the total

current.

Part-C 5*5=25M

1. Explain passive elements in detail.

2. Verify superposition theorem taking any circuit of your own choice.

3. Verify Thevenins theorem for the given circuit.

4. If a coil has a value of 1H and is connected in series with a resistor of 100Ω.connected

to 220V, 50 Hz supply Find the current and power factor.

5. Derive the resonance frequency of a series circuit in terms of half power frequencies.

6. Find the equivalent resistance of the given circuit

7. Derive the relation between line and phase quantities of voltages and currents for a

star connected system.
