1. a. Are people always an organization’s most valuable asset? Why or why not?
b. Suppose your boss asked you to summarize the major people related concerns related to opening
an office in China. What issues be on your list?

Answers:
a. People are considered the most vital aspect for an organization and are most valuable asst. This is
because of the following reasons:
 The success of any organization depends on the how effectively the human resources are used in
the operation and functioning of the organization.
 The knowledge, abilities, talent and capacities of people working as employee in organization are
the most crucial factor for outcome of any organization.
 Competition and challenges are tackled and overcome by the performance and the
responsibilities handled by employees in the organization.
 The managers and employers must be competent to select, recruit and train the staffs and bring
efficiency and talent enhancement for employees.
 Experienced and knowledgeable staffs can bring very effective and resultant outcome for any
company.
 The human resources management serves as a base for the right king of operation and functioning
of the required production and profit to achieve objectives
 Every planning, job designing and communication method are to be done through the manpower
who are eligible and capable to handle such roles; and
 Technologies and equipment operation in the correct procedures are to be done by the
employees for bringing effectiveness in the organization.

b. First I would find out the cultural differences, break down the language barrier, make sure that
technological systems are compatible and make sure to recruit the best employees. Thus, opening a
company in china, one of the major duties in the HR department is to establish and endure strategies
for: recruitment, planning, and appraisal and benefits. However, I will have to address and maintain
each of the aforementioned concerns while at the same time the ethnic and cultural challenges, aging
workforce, and educated workforce.

2. In your opinion, what is the most important role HR managers play?

Answer:
The most important role of HR managers in an organization is to work with the line managers
and address challenges of organization.

3. Will technology eliminate the need for human resource managers?

Answer:
The technology is a helper at the workplace but not substitution for Human Resource functions
or managers. The human element can never be underestimated. We cannot stop evaluating the
qualitative variables as the talent and human performance. Human Resource Managers work with
systems that are a great way for management employees and have their data at their fingertips. These
systems include history of each individual skill, capabilities, accomplishments, trainings, salary,
administration and payroll, recruiting and performance analysis.

4. Name a company you hope to work for someday. What is its track record in terms of corporate social
responsibility and sustainability? Are these factors important to you? Why or why not?

Answer:
The company which has its tracked record in terms of the sustainability and social responsibilities
is the China Alibaba Company. The China Alibaba Company is setting and also achieving the corporate
sustainability and social responsibilities goals. Yes, these factors are important as it is an integral part of
undertaking the effect of globalization in its operations and functioning.
5. What are the pros and cons of having a more diverse workforce? Is the United States in a better
position to compete globally because of its diverse population?

Answer:
The Pros are the following:

There is better utilization of talent

There is better understanding of the different cultures

There is increased quality of the team problem solving

There is increased marketplace of understanding

There is enhanced creativity

The following are the cons:

• Language barriers

• By not thinking outside of the box

• To always do things similar way.

• There is lack of the growth

United States is in a better position to compete globally for the reason that they have numerous
information concerning what the potential consumers’ overseas need. They also have robust
information systems, which other nations don’t have way in to (Munjal, & Rathore, 2010).
