Say and tell (reported speech)

Si vos decis con quien estás hablando, usas TELL.

Sonia told me that you were ill (not Sonia said me)

Se usa SAY en estas situaciones:

Sonia said that you were ill

What did you say?

Ann said goodbye to me and left. (not Ann said me goodbye)
