Parent Form

Dear Parents,

You are receiving this letter because your child has signed up or is interested in being a part of
an excellent band program. After my recruiting assembly, I gave the opportunity for your child
to try out an instrument and consider joining this award winning program. This is to inform on
the expectations and standards we have here in my program.

Must Have

Students are to have their instruments ready to go by the first week of school. Depending on
the instrument your child plays on, I recommend purchasing an instrument for them. Larger
instruments, like trombone, baritone, tuba, cello, string bass, piano, and percussion will be
available to check out here but only while inventory last. There are local music shops near by
that also rent music instruments at reasonable prices. The following would be recommended
brands according to your students’ instrument.

Clarinet: Yamaha, bundy, jupiter, selmer, buffet.

Flute: Yamaha, Armstrong, Jupiter, etude model, mendini
Alto/Tenor sax: Yamaha, Selmer, Conn, Jupiter
Oboe: Yamaha, Buffet, Jupiter, RS Berkeley
Bassoon: Fox and Renard, Heckle, YFG, Jupiter
Trumpet: Yamaha, Jupiter, Bach, Mendini, Jean Paul
French Horn: Yamaha, Holton, Mendini, Conn, Jupiter
Baritone: Mendini, Cecilio, Hawk, Schiller
Trombone: Yamaha, Mendini, Bach, Jupiter, Conn
Tuba: Yamaha, Jupiter, Vento, Jubital, Glory Brass
Violin: Lewis, Potter, Glaese
Viola: Lewis, Potter, Glaese
Cello: Lewis, Potter, Glaese
String Bass: Lewis, Potter, Glaese
Renting Instruments
Local music shops provide financial monthly payment plans if you wish to rent an instrument
for your child, if you have questions or wish for my input please contact me. At the end of this
handout there will be several music shops nearby where rentals can be achieved. Any other
concerns regarding situating an instrument please contact me in order to help in resolving the
situation.

No Amazon!
Parents I strongly advise not to buy an instrument from amazon, I understand how this
company thrives on making great deals, and conveniences but it is not the case with delicate
musical instruments. There have been many cases where quality is not met through third party
purchases including Target, and Walmart. Therefore, I recommend sticking with nearby music
shops or checking with me first.

Please do not wait till the first day of school to secure an instrument for your child. Unless
arrangements were made with me and your student, there is no reason for child to show up on
the first day of school without an instrument.

I look forward to meeting you and working with your child. This program will uncover the
hidden potential your child has as with hard work and staying on task, your child can help
elevate this program to a higher successful caliber.
