AB Philosophy
I did not give because I do have an excess, I give because it’s all I have.
Courage-This day I transformed fear into determination by doing things that I rarely do
because I am afraid to fail. I embrace myself fully, without holding back, doing what must be
done even when it is difficult and later on not knowing that I did it. I transcend self-doubt into
courage.
Detachment-The freedom to choose to stay away from material things. Today my phone
was broken because it falls from 2nd floor of SS building to ground floor. From then onwards I
detach myself from material things like gadgets that sometimes hinder my vocations.
Enthusiasm-Strong excitement about life and openness to the wonders each day holds
that give me a strong feeling of active interest by helping others even in a small way like sharing
my thoughts and ideas every time I encounter other people.
Gentleness-Having or showing a kind and quiet nature. Along the way I encounter an
old lady I help her to cross the street and we talked quite a while about life.
Honesty-The confidence to be sincere and not lie or cheat to someone. After I buy a
meal for lunch I notice that the change that the owner give is too much so I returned back to
the store and returned the money.

Honor-Keeping our agreements with integrity. I’ve got a high score than her in our quiz
that day, so I had to keep my promise to her that I will treat for lunch.
Humility-Being open to every lesson life brings and trusting that our mistakes are often
our best teachers. While doing our group activity, we shared our thoughts and I did not think
of myself that my ideas are better than theirs.
Joyfulness=An inner wellspring of peace and happiness. To lessen suffering I just enjoy
the richness of life and find humor, even in the midst of hard times.
No class (XUFD)
Loyalty-My unwavering faithfulness and commitment to people and ideas I care about,
through good times and bad. I am very grateful to one of my brothers who cared for me in times
of difficulties and I considered him as a family.
Patience
Waiting peacefully. Quiet hope and faith that things will turn out right.
Truthfulness-Honesty in all our dealings. While we were eating our lunch, I told my
classmate to at least be cautious in his words towards other student because they find it rude.
Love-Attraction, affection and caring for life itself. I love my vocation more than
anyone else, so I try to be obedience and loyal to myself which I found out that to resolve
unnecessary things that hinder one’s vocation one must love himself in order to be happy.
Peace-Resolving conflict in a just and gentle way. One of my brothers mistook my notes
in RS 55 which contain my journal as a trash so he throws it away and I was not able to find it
anymore. Instead of getting mad at him, I just talked to him and said to keep off from my things.
Thus, giving up the love of power for the power of love give me an inner calm and tranquility.
Trust-Having faith toward God and toward others. Having confidence that the right
thing will come about without trying to control it or make it happen. Nothing particularly
happen today.
Unity-Finding common ground in our diversity. While we were doing our group
activity in Filipino, most of the member were not able to get along with each other, so in order
for the group to be united I called their attention and talked to them to please participate and
be serious in our activity. A minutes later we just realize that we just finished our activity.
Tact-Telling the truth kindly. Discerning what to say, when it is timely to say it, and
what is better left unsaid. I spoke with one of my brothers about how unmanly his attitude
towards other student and later on he changed his attitude.
Sincerity-Our words and actions reflect a truthful heart. Being open and genuine to
others help you a lot to improve yourself.
Service-Doing helpful things that make a difference to others. I help one of my brothers
in arranging and correcting his research paper and it made me happy to be able to help others
even in a small way.
Patience-The ability to wait for a long time without becoming annoyed or upset. I was
waiting for my classmate to show up because he borrowed my notes in Latin and later I found
out that he’s going to be late in the class, so to avoid frustration I calmly said to myself “its
ok”, then a few minutes later, he showed up.

Respect-An attitude of honoring oneself and others through our words and actions. I
met an old lady outside the school campus and I looked, smiled at her and greeted her a pleasant
day.
Virtues are the essence of our character and character does indeed determine destiny. The more
we recognize the potential impact that practicing virtues can have on our lives, the more our
lives open up to new possibilities and to greater joy and fulfillment.
(I lost track of how much I donated because one of my brother seminarian mistook my journal
as a trash which I wrote there everything about the collection.)
