Aviation in India is the fastest growing market in the world and India is currently considered the third

largest domestic civil aviation market in the world. The Indian Aviation sector is poised to take off and
soar high in an unprecedented manner. From being a preserve of the rich to the present where the Aam
Admi is the focus of the airline industry, the aviation sector mirrors the development and evolution of
the Indian Economy over the decades. Added to this is the fact that the government has actively
encouraged the development of the sector by providing subsidies and establishing world-class airports.
Having said that, there are a few chokepoints that have prevented the growth and development of the
Indian aviation sector. Prominent among these is the ambitious expansion plans hindered by the present
infrastructure due to which airlines are routinely denied landing rights and parking bays for want of
capacity. With the Indian aviation sector being very competitive, various players have been struggling to
fetch profits in the market. There have been various mergers and liquidations to increase market power
