EXPERIMENT 6- MESH AND NODAL ANALYSIS

Refer to the table below for the values of resistors.

GROUP R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7
1 100 98 115 79 63 105 82
2 89 100 72 108 94 86 120
3 108 43 87 96 125 74 65
4 97 104 84 116 47 68 90

For the voltage sources, use Vs1= 10V, Vs2= 15V and Vs3=20V.

Part 1

1. Using TINA Pro, simulate Figure 6.1. Record all the meter readings in Table 6.1.
2. For calculated values, assuming mesh currents in clockwise direction, substitute the values of
the given resistors and voltage sources to solve for the mesh currents using the equations
below.
Vs1= (R1+R2+R3)I1- R3I2- R2I3
-VS2= -R3I1+ (R3+R4+R5)I2- R5I3
VS3= -R2I1- R5I2+ (R2+R5)I3

3. After solving for the mesh currents, solve for the voltages. Refer to the equations below.
V1=I1R1
V2= R2(I1-I3)
V3=R3(I1-I2)
V4= R4I2
V5=R5(I2-I3)

PART 2

1. Using TINA Pro, simulate Figure 6.2 BUT change Vs2 into resistor R6. ALSO, connect resistor R7
in series with Vs3. Record all the meter readings in Table 6.2.
2. For calculated values, substitute the values of the resistors and voltage sources in the given
equations below.
𝑉𝑆1 1 1 1 1
= ( + + ) 𝑉1 − 𝑉2
𝑅4 𝑅4 𝑅1 𝑅6 𝑅6
1 1 1 1 1
0=− 𝑉1 + ( + + ) 𝑉2 − 𝑉3
𝑅6 𝑅6 𝑅2 𝑅5 𝑅5
−𝑉𝑆3 1 1 1 1
=− 𝑉2 + ( + + ) 𝑉3
𝑅7 𝑅5 𝑅5 𝑅3 𝑅7

3. After solving for the node voltages, solve for the currents using the equations below.
𝑉1
𝐼1 =
𝑅1
𝑉2
𝐼2 =
𝑅2
𝑉3
𝐼3 =
𝑅3

COORDINATE WITH THE GROUP MEMBERS FOR THE FINAL DATA.

ON A SHORT BOND PAPER, WRITE NEATLY THE COMPLETE SOLUTIONS ON BOTH PARTS. (TO BE
INCLUDED IN THE FINAL REPORT, PLACE AFTER PDS)

AFTER COMPLETING TABLES 6.1 AND 6.2, WRITE YOUR NAME AND SIGNATURE ON THE
COMPLETED PDS AND THE SOLUTION. TAKE A PHOTO THEN UPLOAD HERE TOGETHER WITH THE
SCREENSHOT OF YOUR SIMULATION.

SUBMIT LAB REPORT FOR EXPERIMENT 6 NEXT FACE TO FACE MEETING.
