Improving Reading Skill using Puzzle Games: Live is Strange

Abstract
Reading is one of the important skill in English which is the ability to understand or comprehend
the meaning of the written text. Especially, for the students reading is needed because almost all
the aspect involve reading for example text book, the exercises, journal, articles, etc. But, most
of the students are get bored very fast when the teacher explains and teaches them the material.
The aim of this paper is to give some strategies and prove it that helpful to teach reading skill.
the researcher prove in this paper that games is the effective strategy to improve the student’s
reading skill, while this way is interesting.

Introduction
a. Why the research is done?
In studying the English language, there are four skills that must be mastered. They are
reading, speaking, writing, and listening. The fourth such capabilities must be mastered in
order to master the English language very well. In addition in English there is also
language aspect which consist of vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar.
The researcher found some problems in teaching reading skill : monotonous learning
media and lack of motivation. To overcome this problem, the researcher give the strategy
that effective. By using games will help the learning process effectively, easily, and
interesting.

Research Method
The method that used in this research is quantitative method. This research using pre-test
and post-test technique.

Conclusion
Live is strange is a game with the story that using English language can improve reading
skill. Live is strange is one of the best games like rational narrative and character, key features
that make storytelling more interesting, the power of music to compose nuances and atmosphere,
challenging puzzles, touching game endings and satisfying conclusions.
