SUMMARY FORM (FINAL) in Task 2, write two complete body paragraphs. Include a
reference list for all your in-text citations in APA style. The paragraphs must be typed
using font Arial 11/Times New Roman 12 with 1.5 spacing.

TOPIC: The effect of social media on students.

Thesis Statement:

Social media can negatively affect the students on wasting their time and made their
academic performance dropped.

Body Paragraphs:

The first effect of social media on students is wasting their time. Students nowadays
did not get enough sleep as they are spending their time with z because lack of attention
given by caregiver. Nearly one-fourth of the pupils spend a whale of time on social media.
They frequently spend their time on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter (Jacobsen & Forste,
2011). Next, students are not well aware of their future and it made them feel discourage
especially when they are having a group discussion, meeting as it made the students to lose
confidence when they are making an eye contact when they are talking. Eye contact by
person-to-person will become a problem when the pupils frequently spend their time on
internet. Their eye-contact towards people will be diminish. A problem will occur such as
does not have ability to communicate and hard to make eye contact (Akram & Kumar, 2017).
Therefore, social media will devastate your day when you did not use it wisely.

Next, social media can also cause academic performance dropped. Second, the
presence of social media made the students’ attention distracted in class, incomplete
assignment and not focusing in their studies. There is a research made involving the usage
of internet among the teenagers and their examination result. A lot of time spend on internet
can aff

ect their academic performance through learning ( Waleed Mugahed Al-Rahmi &
Mohd Shahizan Othman, 2013). In addition, addicted to video game made their academic
performance dropped as they have more flexible schedules that allowing for more play time.
There is a negative relation between spending their time on games and examination result.
Academic performance dropped when the students spend a lot of time on video games
(Anand, 2007). Thus, social media made student’s examination result diminish as they are
exposed to the bad side of social media.
