IL. operation 1. Soil samples collection Soll sample collection is a vital process to determinate whether the final analysis results are properly reflecting soils characteristics or not. Therefore, choosing a representative place to collect soil sample is very important. Here we introduce to collection ways: a) Sampling depth: For field and cash crop, the sampling depth is usually 0-20 em. For fruit tree, the sampling depth is usually 0-40 cm. b) Samples quantity: ‘To be representative, how many sites in same place should be sampling? There are three factors need to pay 2 attention to: 1) field area; 2) terrain flat or not; 3) last crops growth neat or not. > Small size field area (1~5mu), flat, last crop growth neat, 5 sampling sites is ok. Middle size field area (more than 10mu), 10~20 sampling sites is ok. The collected points are followed as the field shape, if the field is foursquare, the collected points are shown in Figure Lif the field is rectangle or fruit tree, the collected points are shown as Figure 2. @ For each collected point, remove topsoil, vertically insert shovel into the soil and dig 1kg soil. Then put the ‘1kg soil in a big bag or a clan woven bag and mix it; pick out the impurities such as: stones cinder, dead leaves ete. Screen repeatedly by quartationuntil about 0.5 kg soil samples left. Put this soil sample into paper bag and ‘crush it. After drying all its moisture in the open air, pass the soil sample through 1 mm sieve. Then test starts, Quartation grapH: Soil Z Soil soil Soil! < Soit < yan Ast step 2nd step 3rd step Attention: Each soil sample should have labels; write collector name, sampling site, date, depth, and crop etc. 2.
