 1. Cover letter (no more than 1 page) Outline why you would like to represent the
student body as a Prefect at Ringwood Secondary College in 2019.
 List the Prefect portfolios you believe your skills would be most suitable for being
successful in
 Identify whether you are wanting to be considered for Head or Deputy Head
Prefect. Please note that all students that are successful in gaining a Prefect
position, may be considered for the role of Head or Deputy Head Prefect
2. Key Selection Criteria (no more than 2 pages)
 Outline the skills, attributes and experiences that make you a suitable candidate for
a Prefect position. Link this with the portfolios you believe you are most suitable for
and make reference to the job descriptors and expectations of all RSC Prefects.
 Further advice for your application – the panel would appreciate seeing your
visionary component of your application, as well reading about your achievements.
3. Two referees (no more than half a page in total)
 Identify one staff member from the College and one person outside of school who
you have worked closely with and can attest to your skills and attributes. Discuss
your application with them and ask for them to write a reference to include in your
application. Please note: The key panel members will not be eligible to be a referee
due to their role in reading applications and interviewing. For 2019, they are Ms
Horton, Ms Menz and Mr Barut.
4. 150 word summary (only provided if you are shortlisted however, please have this
prepared)
 Summarise your skills, attributes and experiences into 150 words or less. If
shortlisted, you will be asked to submit this as an electronic copy. This summary will
be used to inform online voters.

Online Vote
A link will be sent to all Year 11 students and staff to complete an online vote. Each
person receives 10 votes to distribute amongst all of the applicants that have been
shortlisted to the voting stage. The votes are not for a portfolio, but rather a vote for a
student that is suitable to be a Prefect. The 10 votes are weighted with the 1st vote being
worth 10 points and the 10th vote worth 1 point.

Interview
Based on the written application and staff and student vote, a number of students are
selected for individual interviews.
Typically, interview questions would include a combination of the following:
 What will you bring to the role?
 What would you like to achieve in the role?
 What vision do you have?
*Note – A shortlist of potential Head and Deputy Head Prefects will be completed following
the interview process. All shortlisted candidates will then be asked to present their vision to
the Year 11 cohort (Tuesday 9th October) and to also attend a group interview with Mr
Phillips.
