Plot IDS vs VDS characteristics of JFET for different VGS voltages as well as IDS vs
VGS.

Block Diagram:

Circuit Diagram:

Procedure:
1. Measuring ID versus VDS (Output Characteristics)
a) Build the circuit.
b) Obtain the output characteristics i.e. ID versus VDS
c) Set a particular value of voltage for Vgs . Vary the voltage across drain (Vds) from 0 to 8 V
with steps of 0.5 V and measure the corresponding drain current (ID).
d) Repeat the procedure for different values of VGS. (0V, -1V, -2V)
e) Plot the graph.
Calculations and Observations:
VGS= 0V

VDS(V) IDS(mA)
1 1.67
1.5 2.32
2 3.65
3 5.33
5 10.73
7 10.74
9 10.76

VGS=-1V

1 1.36
1.5 2.05
2 3.33
5 7.42
7 7.35
9 7.54

Plots:
1. Measuring ID versus VGS (Transconductance Characteristics)

a) For the same circuit, obtain the transconductance characteristics. i.e. ID versus VGS.
b) Set a particular value of voltage for VDS, i.e. 5V. Start with a gate voltage VGS of 0 V, and
measure the corresponding drain current (ID).
c) Plot the graph with ID versus VGS.

Calculations and Observations:

VDS=5V

-1 3.6

-2 2.31

-3 0.72
