CCLI EVALUATION PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

You will write an 1,800–2,200-word research-based paper in current Turabian format that
focuses on the evaluation of the lyric content and tessitura demands of selected CCLI Top 100
worship songs. Your paper must include at least 10 references in addition to the course materials
and the Bible. These references will be worship song lyrics, melodies, and arrangements.
Evaluate 10 songs from the CCLI Top 100. Choose at least 5 songs included in the Leonard and
Lifeway texts.
Opening paragraph for each song:
Describe the following:
1. the theme(s) of the lyric content
2. at least 1 scripture reference relevant to the song
3. the tempo/style/groove/distinctive production features of the arrangement presented by
the songwriter or a primary artist associated with the song (e.g. coverage of Revelation
Song can describe a presentation by either Jenny Lee Riddle or Kari Jobe).
Closing material written on each song:
Describe the intervallic range of the main melody, highest and lowest notes of the melody
(including their duration in sixteenth notes), and evaluation of congregational effectiveness and
ministerial purposes in a church service.
