    Dear Customers,

    Thank you for using Futronic products. Please read information on this page before you start to
    use FS83 and/or FS84.

    A. Connection to PC
    1. Futronic does not provide connecting cable together with FS83 and FS84.
    2. FS83 can be connected to PC via RS232. Please read the document “FS83 sFAM RS-232
    connection and demo program” in the same folder to make a RS232 connecting cable for
    FS83. Then follow the instruction to run the demo program in the folder “FS83 sFAM demo
    program” to make sure that the connection is OK.
    3. FS84 can be connected to PC via RS232. Please read the document “FS84 ethFAM serial
    connection and demo program” in the same folder to make a RS232 connecting cable for
    FS84. Then follow the instruction to run the demo program in the folder “FS84 ethFAM demo
    program” to make sure that the connection is OK.

    B. Fingerprint Recognition Demo Program


    1. After “A” is successful, please go to the folder “Fingerprint recognition demo program”.
    2. Read the simple user guide first. Then run the “EthFamEx.exe” which is good for both FS83
    and FS84. This program shows all the function of FS83 and FS84.
    3. The source code (VC.2005) of EthFamEx.exe can be found in the folder “EthFamEx_v3.0”.

    C. Ethernet connection
    1. FS84 supports Ethernet connection. With Ethernet connection, FS84 can be controlled using
    the “EthFAmEx.exe” mentioned in “B”.
    2. FS84 factory default IP address is 192.168.0.30 and port is 5001. If the default setting is
    changed, please mark the new setting on the FS84. Otherwise it may not be controlled
    through Ethernet again.

    D. Development Support
    1. FS83/FS84 is a slave device. There must be a master controller to control them.
    2. FS83 can be controlled via serial/UART port (or RS232).
    3. FS84 can be controlled via serial/UART port (or RS232) and Ethernet.
    4. Please go to the folder “Development support” to find all the necessary information.
