TOURIST / HOLIDAY VILLAGE

ABSTRACT
The village aims at providing a rejuvenating spa & resort,
recreational zone and an affordable stay for the floating
population – students, tourists.
Site location – Pondicherry
Tourism is the temporary movement of people to destinations
outside their normal places of work and residence, the
activities undertaken during their stay in those destinations and
the facilities created to cater to their need. The tourist village
enhances the tourist infrastructure as well as the landscape,
ethnicity, culture and architecture.
Tourism sector is the highest source of income in Pondicherry
but has many issues in faced by the people and tourists as it
was not a major tourist destination initially.
The concept of tourist village promotes tourism and also aims
to solve some of the existing issues i.e. inadequate staying
places, etc. The village aims at providing an enjoyable stay for
professionals, nature buffs, senior citizens and the youth. A
rejuvenating space for meditation and yoga, a luxury resort,
service apartments, economical stays, recreational and
activities zone and other retail outlets promoting tourism.

Mixed use community development aims at providing
quality living and working spaces for the people.
Urban development that blends residential, commercial,
cultural and recreational into a single area. It aims at
incorporating quality outdoor spaces for residents within the
development. Mixed use community allows the creation of
plazas, landscape features and pedestrian oriented
development maximizing space usage.
