MY DAILY PLANNING

EMERGENT AND RATIONAL STRATEGY

Introduction

The article address how I plan my day and how I carry out my daily activities. I will first start by
explaining both strategies and how they differ then elaborate on my activities each day depending
on many factors.

The emergent and rational planning;

Emergent strategy relate to all actions that are taken and decision made immediate in responding to
changes and factors which needs to be attended as quick as possible or else there will be adverse
effect thus of.

Rational planning here the actions are first planned in an order and care is taken so as to take
opportunities and actions to be taken where risk is highly possible. This type of strategy is good for
long term planning in a stable environment.

I usually do not plan my daily activities I will just take in mind those bigger activities for the day, if I
do not have bigger activities I do not plan anything but rather take each and every activity as it arise.
I will also plan activities according to their priorities as they arise. In the morning I do not even make
plan of this activities. In strategy research, two main perspectives on the formation of strategies
exist: the first school understands strategy making as a planning task while the other argues
that strategies are often unplannable but emerge from practice Mintzberg and Waters, 1985

I sometimes forget other activities due to this type of strategy and recognise when I have to perform
another activity, one day I even forgot to take with me personal computer with me as I was late and
that day I was to use it for other activities.

I find planning taking lot of my personal time and I do not prefer it as my time is always limited,
family matters, work and my studies all need more time so planning what to do next day I perceive it
waste of the little time I have.
