IMPLEMENTATION LEVEL AND PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN GENDER

SENSITIVITY PROGRAM AMONG SELECTED SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN THE

DIVISION OF QUEZON

Purpose: The study was conducted to determine the level of implementation of Gender
Sensitivity Program in the selected secondary schools in the Division of Quezon and the
problems met along its process. Also, a Gender Sensitivity Training Program was
developed based on the significant difference ascertained in the implementation and
problems encountered among the selected schools.

Methodology: With the use of Descriptive Method of Research, the study was conducted
among the respondents who were school heads, master teachers, head teachers, GAD
coordinators / focal persons and teachers through a checklist questionnaire. This
instrument was constructed based from the existing laws and DepEd polices.

Findings: It was found that the respondents observed that Gender Sensitivity Program
in School was being implemented in different levels. Basically, women empowerment as
part of Gender Sensitivity Program in schools is the highly implemented aspect. The study
also revealed that training and education in regards to Gender Sensitivity Program is
being implemented. Further, there are still problems that hinder the schools in
implementing their Gender Sensitivity Program of which the notable is the absence of
concrete Child Protection Policy and Anti-bullying Policy.

Implications: Among the six variables of the study as to Gender Sensitivity Program in
school, four of its variables rejected the hypothesis wherein there is significant difference
in the level of implementation and problems encountered in the selected secondary
schools in the division of Quezon, namely: Child Protection Policy, Bullying, Safe Learning
Facilities and Financial Allocation. Thus, the four aspects became the spring board in
developing the Proposed Gender Sensitivity Training Design.

Originality/Value: This study revealed that Gender Sensitivity Program has different
level of implementations. It is notable that women are empowered in schools. The study
was instrumental in developing a comprehensive training program to strengthen and
institutionalize Gender Sensitivity Program in schools.
