3. Fire Water Pumps
Fire pump is a part of fire protection system and can be powered by electric or diesel engine,
Water used for fire protection shall be drawn from the filtered water storage tank by 1 no of
100% duty electric mator driven fire pumps and the another 1nos of 100% standby diesel
tengine driven pumps. The standby diesel engine driven willbe in operation when the main
electric motor driven pump fails. The pump provides water flow at higher pressure to water-
based fire protection system, foam-water system, hose standpipes and fire hydrants.
Fire pumps starts when the pressure inthe fire protection system drops below a threshold.
The fire protection system pressure drops significantly when each system is activated by
mean of automatic and/or manually operation.
The fire water pumps being the main supply consists of;
