SUMMARY

The present study entitled as“A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF VRKSHAMLA[Garcinia

Indica(Dupetit-Thouars)Choisy]AND SAPTAPARNA[Alstonia Scholaris(L.)R.Br.]WITH SPECIAL
REFERENCE TO ITS MEDOHARA PROPERTY[ANTI-HYPERLIPIDEMIC ACTION] Explains in brief
aboutthe Ayurveda and its utility, Introductionof medohara and anti-hyperlipidemic,
along with these points introduction of the drug both trial drugs, background of study is
explained.Literatureregarding the trialdrugs iscompiled from various Ayurvedic as well
as modern medical texts. Adetailed description about medoroga according to various
classics and its types are discussed in Disease review.

The whole work was undertaken in 6 main parts as - Morphological study,

Pharmacognostical study, Phytochemical Study, Preparation ofkashaya,preparation hima,
literary source & Experimental study. The selected drugs identified through taxonomical
& morphological way. Organoleptic characters, microscopical study, powder microscopy
were done as part of Pharmacognostical study. Phytochemical analysis includes physico-
chemical characters, qualitative tests, fluorescence analysis & TLC which helped in
identification & purity of trial drugs
The observations of the experimental study, statistical analysis and inferences are
presented under the heading result. Discussion on trial drugs, the disease, the
experimental model, discussion on physico-chemical parameters, qualitative
parameters,Rf values obtained by Thin Layer Chromatography, including discussion on
the results of Experimental study has been done. Also, an attempt has been made to
explain the mode of action of both trial drugs on the body based on Ayurvedic
perspective is discussed,by highlighting the outcome and scope for further study
conclusion were drawn.
