Motor specifications:

We did research on the selection of motors. We were in search of motors which consumes
less power and at the same time they are able to drive the load including weight of patient and
that of wheelchair, batteries, and other accessories.
Upon calculation, we installed a 24 volts, 250 watts and 2650 RPM. It can take up to 14
ampere current.

The reason behind selecting 24 volt instead of 12 volts motor is to get high torque. Also the
motor can carry up to 14 ampere current. The reason behind choosing high ampere motor is
that it can provide high torque.
We can see from the torque equation:

As we know that Z, P and A are construction features and are constant so the equation can be
reduced as:

Ta ∝ Φ Ia
Where Ia is the armature current of the motor.
