PRESENTATION IDEA:
Tesla Coils
Designed by inventor, Nikola Tesla, a Tesla Coil is an electrical resonant transformer
circuit used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high frequency alternating-
current electricity. In addition, the current also allows the wireless transfer of the said
generated electricity.

The coil consists of two parts: a primary coil and secondary coil, each with its own
capacitor. The two coils and capacitors are connected by a gap of air between two
electrodes that generates the spark of electricity. An outside source connected to a
transformer powers the whole system. Essentially, the Tesla coil is two open electric
circuits connected by a ‘spark gap’. Due to no wires carrying the electricity, the
phenomenon produces lightning bolts.

The proposed topic is relevant to our course, utilizing the concepts of current generation
and power transformers.
