FILOSOFÍA DEL DOLOR·VIERNES, 4 DE AGOSTO DE 2017

Pain is a complex subject, open to different readings that produce very appealing
philosophical debates. In our view, there are three elements in the puzzle that specially
foster the debate: mind, self and culture. The “Philosophy of Pain / Filosofía del
Dolor” International Congress, a 3-day event, will be held on April 2018 at the
University of Salamanca, where discussions centered around these three aspects will
interact with one another.

Each day will feature a keynote speaker, two contributed-paper sessions and a coffee
& poster session, but, certainly, discussions will keep going in the spare time at the
cozy Salamanca.

The confirmed speakers are David Bain, Luis Fernando Cardona and Javier Moscoso.

We invite the submission of proposals for papers and posters in English and Spanish.
The main topic is pain and how it correlates to mind, self and culture, while we will
reserve slots for proposals that dialogue directly with the works of the invited
speakers.

To submit, prepare your abstract for blind review and send it by email to
iago.ramos@usal.es before December 31, 2017 with the subject: “POP 2018 Paper
Proposal” or “POP 2018 Poster Proposal”. Acceptance letters will be sent during
January 2018.

The congress will be part of the celebrations for the eighth centenary of the University
of Salamanca.
