What skills and techniques did I learn that will help me become a better educator?

I learned the importance of having an institutional mission statement that addresses the type of institution and the expectations of its
teachers. Additionally, I learned how as a teacher, I can use this mission statement to develop my own teaching style that fits with the needs
of the institution and the expectations of the students in my class.

What things am I still uncertain about regarding this topic that I need to investigate further in the future?

I’d like to know how to observe an institution and its teachers to determine whether the teaching styles are actually in line with their mission
statement. What practices should I look for to judge whether the goals and practices are aligned? Is it reasonable to ask faculty members in
the department, especially if I am deciding whether the institution is a good fit for me?

How can I apply materials from this session to my own class to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning?

In the future, I can actively seek out mission statements for the institutions and departments in which I may be working. I will also consider
my own teaching philosophy and compare it to the expectations and values of the school.
