Description of the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital

Everybody think that hospital can be scary places but UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital
will make you think that it’s a pretty cool place. In front of hospital there valet, they will give
you ticket and park your car. If you like parking, you can self parking in the garage too. You
can find the entrances of the garage at the Gayley Avenue and Westwood Boulevard.
One of you see when you enter to the hospital is “Welcome Wall”. It’s story about
people who work and stay here. If you coming to the hospital for an overnight stay you go
straight to the admission office on the first floor next to Maddie’s room. In the admission room,
your parents will talking about checked of the night and get a room. If you’re really injured
and sick you may come to “Emergency Department”. There is waiting area in the corner just
for kids. You can watch videos, play games or do some art and craft while you’re waiting. You
can find special doctor just treat kids, they’re called pediatric hospitalist. They may come visit
you whenever you need so you can get the best care. The Emergency Department also have
Child Life Specialist. They’re like your best friend when you here. At in the information desk
you can ask anything and they will answer you.
In the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital also have cafeteria. If you want to eat you can
go there. You can find kinds of food do you like. After your parents pay register you can eat at
dining area or you can picnic outside. Also if you want to cash advance you can find ATM and
you can pay at the cashier at the next gift shop. If you and parents need to break outside, you
can go to the garden at the right outside of the dining area. In the UCLA Mattel Children’s
Hospital also have big elevators. You can find it at east and west and for pediatric unit on the
fifth floor. If you have come and care overnight, you can use facilities like TV, free wi-fi, room
service and places to put your stuff.
The doctors and nurses in here are super smart and friendly. They will make you feel
better as soon as possible. If you need them, you hit the button and they will be right there.
Also if you want to ask about your room or hospital you can ask your nurses because there’s
nurse’s station right nearby and if you want to know who’s nurses who take care of you, you
can take a look on the white board.
Your family can visit while you here. They can check in at the information desk and
when they get here they need to press a buzzer so someone can let them in and they will go
front desk ask to see you. If you’re not ready to visit they can go to waiting room at the entrance.
Also on the first floor, there is Child Life Center. The specialist will help you whenever you
need. Then, if you want to play you can play in the play room. In that room you can play full
of toys and games or you can find a new friend. There’s also game lounge to adult kids. You
can play pool and video games and family resources for the parents. If you want to play outside
you go to at outside play area. You can play shoots, hoops or race cars.
When you want to leave there is a place you can go to hangout while you being
discharged. It’s called Westside Lounge. Some time you just come to hospital for the day or
just for check up or something you can go UCLA Medical Plaza. Most of time you can go to
Children’s Health Center at the second floor. Your parents can check in at the front desk and
you can play in the waiting area. When you name called, you’ll go to the exam room to see
your doctor. Sometime kids might come to pediatric center for treatment. It’s right to the hall
in the Children’s Health Center. The nurse and child specialist are really nice and they will give
you lots of to do while you get your medicine. The doctors in here will be taking care of the
kids and they will do best.
