SFA Homecoming was this past weekend and the Lumberjacks took on the McNeese State Cowboys.

Before the game, there were many traditions that SFA hosted to help the school and community get
ready for the game. As a long time Nacogdoches resident and a current SFA student, here are some of
the best parts of the Homecoming weekend.

1. Bonfire

Homecoming started off on Friday night with a bonfire. Current students and community members
gathered together at the SFA intramural field to watch the Alumni Association light hundreds of pallets
that have been stacked on top of each other. There was nothing better than standing next to the
warmth of the fire on a cool night.

2. Concert

Following the bonfire, there was a concert to get students pumped for the game. After getting Jesse
McCartney last year, 3OH!3 took the stage this year at the bonfire. Students sang along with the band to
some of their classic hits.

3. Homecoming Parade

What better way to start off Homecoming Day than with a parade? At 9:00 Saturday morning,
downtown Nacogdoches was closed as the SFA Lumberjack band led the parade. SFA Organizations,
groups, and Nacogdoches ISD bands showed SFA pride as they marched through downtown.

4. Tailgate

About two hours before kickoff, organizations and students came together at the Ag Pond next to
Homer Bryce Stadium to tailgate for the big game. The band performed some of their most notable
songs and different organizations set up booths to encourage students to get ready to watch the game.

5. Kick off

The best way to end Homecoming was watching the SFA Lumberjacks play football. This year the stands
were full of fans who rooted for SFA to beat McNeese St. Even though the Lumberjacks lost the game,
watching it with friends is what made it enjoyable.
