SITUATION:
A pre-tensioned, simply-supported bridge has the following design dimensions and loads.
Assume a Superimposed Dead Load Pressure = 5kPa, and Live Load Pressure = 9kPa on the deck
slab, determine the following:
REINFORCEMENT OF CROSS GIRDERS using Working Stress Design. Use the following
values: fy = 280MPa, f’c = 12MPa, n=10. Use factored load of 1.2DL+1.6LL.
NUMBER OF TENDONS NEEDED FOR PSB-1 and PSB-2 using Basic Concept Method.
Use HS20-44 Loading, forces on slabs, and the weight of the prestressed beam.
