Centrifugal Oil Filters

SMCS - 1328

Illustration 1 g00692950
(1) Centrifugal oil filters

Engine oil pressure must be greater than 100 kPa (15 psi) before the centrifugal oil filters will operate.
Unfiltered pressurized engine oil enters the base of each centrifugal oil filter (1). Pressurized engine oil enters the center spindle. The engine oil flows
between the center spindle and the bearing tube to the top of the cover and the engine oil flows downward on the inside of the cover. Due to
centrifugal force, the sediment and sludge collects on the disposable liner that is located inside the cover. The engine oil flows through the stand tube
and the jets in the plate of the bearing tube. The flow of engine oil through the jets causes rotation of the rotator assembly.
