How to Memorize Holy Quran

As a muslim, memorizing the Holy Quran is a very hard task to keep in constant. It is
categorized as a good deed and Allah SWT will give blessing to those who able to memorize and
absorb the Holy Quran. As Shaikh Yasir Qodhi explain on how to memorize the Holy Quran, the
first and most important thing to be prepared is our intention. We should make sure our intention
is for pleasing Allah SWT only, not for showing off our achievement in front of other people.
Capability and consistency in memorizing the Holy Quran is a blessing and miracle from Allah
SWT. Not everyone can memorize the Holy Quran consistently. So, we should not feel proud and
seek praise from other people. Next step is to memorize the Holy Quran consistently. We should
not skip even one day and memorize it frequently. Tips that Shaikh Yasir Qodhi give is to
memorize at least 3 to 5 lines a day, but memorize more lines a day will be better. After that, we
should manage our timing to memorize the Holy Quran. It is recommended to memorize it right
after Fajr or before breakfast. The best place to memorize it in a quiet and peaceful place. We can’t
memorize the Holy Quran with full of distraction, so it is recommended to turn off all of our
devices before starting to memorize it. Next is to keep repeat it over and over again with the same
place and time every day because repeatance and consistency are keys to memorize and absorb the
Holy Quran. We should recite our memorization in our shalaat to prevent from forgetting what we
have memorized. Before we start memorize the Holy Quran, it is recommended that we listen to
what we are going to memorize. Then, we should surround our self by listening to Quran recitation.
Finding a recitation buddy will give more advantage and boost for us to memorize the Holy Quran.
Next step is to start memorizing from the back of surah. Shorter surah will give much boosts. We
could divide the memorization of Holy Quran in three parts: first is to start from juz 28, 29, and
30 or start from juz 29 and 30 ; second is to start from surat Al-Kahf until juz 28; third is to
memorize from surah Al-Baqarah until surah Al-Kahf. Finally, don’t forget to memorize the
meaning of the ayat too. It is important for us to understand the meaning of our Holy Quran as it
is a guidance from Allah SWT for His servants.
