TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION FOR SPECIMEN COOLER -
ITS INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS
‘Common
Installation
During operation observation of steam boiler one has to take specimens of e.g.
steam, cylinder water, feed and condense water whose temperatures are
considerably high. Because e.g. Ph-value and density of the water to be analyzed
depends on the temperature and because handling of hot specimens is dificult
must they be cooled to room temperature (20° C) to get comparable results, This
Specimen cooler of NJ-type has been designed for this purpose and it can be used
both steam and cylinder, feed and condense waters. The specitnen to be
examined is led inside a pipe spiral made of stainless steel and cooling water is
Streaming arourid the spiral. There is a regulation ventilator in the sampling tube to
regulate the desired amount of specimen and its temperature. There is as well a
Ventilator in the cooling water pipe.
Depending on the construction pressure and temperature is the sampling tube’s
Ventilator combined either with spiral joint or welded joint both to the sample
cooler and to the tube. The thickness of the cooling spiral's wall Is chosen
according to operation circumstances. Condenser jacket is made either of carbon
steel or stainless steel,
‘This specimen cooler is installed precisely vertically and it is hooked steadily on
the wall for instance several coolers side by side so that all samplos'can be taken
in the same place. There naturally must be arranged a discharge pipe boneath the
eoler into which the cooling water is led if tis not gathered. To the sampling
tube's starting point is situated a lock ventilator.
Taking specimens
One can never be too careful whian taking spécimens and the most common
reason fot incorrect results is taking specimens in a wrong way. Because —_ —___—.
‘extraneous substances always unfasten from the tube walls into specimen,
Specimen water has.to draw off long enough - about 10 minutes - and only then is
Specimen led into the bottic. Sample bottle must be perfectly clean and specimen
{lube has to be led hermetically to the bottle so that the specimen doesn't get in
touch with air.
While taking specimens you first open the cooling water pipe’s ventilator. Afier this
is sampling tube's lock ventilator ({f one exists) opened bolow spocimen cooler,
"thereafior you regulate right specimen amount with tho regulation ventilator, which
is above thé cooler.
=,To ed taking specimens you act in reverse order,
~When needed also the cooling water amount can be regulated.
Management
‘Specimen cooler of NU-ype doesn't normally need any.
