3rd Quarter

I. OBJECTIVE(s):

Competency: Identifies aurally the texture of musical pieces in monophonic,


homophonic and polyphonic. (MU6TX-IVc-d-1)

A. Identifies aurally the texture of musical pieces in monophonic,


homophonic and polyphonic.
B. Sing a song in three different types of musical texture.

IV. PROCEDURE
A. Priming Activities
Good morning children! Are you ready for our music class
today?

1. Reviewing previous lesson


In our previous lesson, you have learned about Tempo. Who
can tell to the class what is tempo in music? (Tempo refers to the
speed of the song.)

Now I have here chart of the different kinds of Tempo. I want


you to match the tempo to its meaning.

1. Lento gradually change to a slower tempo


2. Largo quick
3. Vivace slow
4. Ritardando gradually change to a faster tempo
5. Accelerando very slow, broad
2. Motivation

Show picture of three books. Let the pupils compare the


thickness of the book using the degrees of comparison. (Subject
integration: English)

B. Activity

1. Listening to the same song in three variations of texture.


Song: “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran
a. Acapella
b. With accompaniment
c. In choral group
Ask: Are you familiar with the song? What is the title of the song? Did
you notice any differences in the song? How does the song differ from
one another?
The variations that you heard in the song is called “Texture”.

2. Presentation of the lesson through an activity called “Pass the


envelope”.
Each group will be given an envelope. Inside the envelope are
details about texture in music and its' different types. Each group will
only be given 2 minutes to read and understand what's inside the
envelope. After 2 minutes the group will pass the envelope to the
other group,and they will also be given 2 minutes to read and
understand what's inside the envelope. This will continue until such
time that each group will get back their own respective envelope.

C. Analysis

Answering of questions:
1. In music, the thinness and the thickness of the sound is called?
2. What type of texture is sung with only one voice?
3. Which type of texture is described as having one voice with
accompaniment?
4. A choir is an example of what type of texture?
5. Give an example of monophonic texture.
D. Abstraction

What are the different types of texture in music and describe each one of
them?
(The three types of texture in music are Homophonic, Monophonic and
Polyphonic. .) Monophonic texture (monophony) refers to a single melodic
line, literally meaning one voice. Homophonic texture (homophony) is
defined as having one voice, a melody, which stands out from background
accompaniment. Polyphonic music is a music with many voices.

E. Application
1. Class will sing a song in three different types of texture.
Song: “You are my sunshine”
2. Group Activity: “Identifying texture”
The class will be listening to songs and each group will identify
the texture of the song listened to. Once the 1 point for every correct
answer.

IV. EVALUATION

Read carefully each statement. Identify what texture is described in each


statement. Write monophonic, homophonic or polyphonic.
