Group Assignment - Term Paper
Students in a Group will be writing a term paper for the course.

The objective of this term project is to tie together the topics of the course and to place the role
of operations in a company of your choice.

1. The paper will discuss the design of an existing/new business of your choice. The product or
service should be novel and show promise of success in the marketplace.

2. The paper should focus primarily on the operations management issues.

3. Hypothetical data may be used but they should be realistic. Successful attempts to get real data
will improve the quality of the paper.

4. The paper should begin with the business objectives. The product or service should be
described. By the end of the paper it should be obvious that the operations decisions are
consistent with the overall business objectives and the distinctive competence of the business.

5. Evaluation will be based on the following criteria:


a. Appropriateness of the product or service and the potential for success.
b. Soundness of the rationale and reasoning presented in the paper.
c. Comprehensiveness and depth of the paper’s content.
d. Quality of the sources used for references and background information.
e. Quality of Report such as organization, format, etc.
f. Extent to which the above guidelines are adhered.
g. Extent of connecting topics of the course in your study.

6. A 100-word (maximum) abstract of the project is to be submitted on 5th session. Final report to
be submitted during 18th session of course.

7. Late submissions will affect your scores.

8. No two groups can choose the same product/business.

9. Weightage of Term Paper is 10 marks.

10. The term paper should not be more than 20 pages.

11. Attach Turnitin plagiarism report along with your submission.

12. The submission will follow feedback and viva.


13. Student’s attending to application of The Goal, Critical Chain or TPS for their term paper
will have an advantage.
