Areas of Normal Curve

- normal distribution
*mean=mode=median
Peak of curve - frequency of mean median mode
Characteristics:
1. Symmetrical
2. Has two tails
If not normal - skewed
+ skewed - skewed to the right (mas maraming maganda o mataas)
- skewed - skewed to the left (mas maraming mababa)
3. Asymptotic lines - they tend to meet but they never meet
Even if you are skewed, it can also be asymptotic
4. Divided into 6 standard scores (3 positive, 3 negative)
Standard score - because it is based on standard deviation

Z= x  mean sd
Example: (Continuous probability)
A young medical technologist had opened his own laboratory clinic. He wanted
or he is planning to buy a laboratory equipment. Based on the specification of
the equipment, the average lifespan is 5,000 days with standard deviation of
1,200 days. What is the probability that this equipment will last for more than
10 years? 5 years?
X = 3650
Mean = 5000
Sd = 1200
Z = 3650-5000/1200
= 4125
